#22 Five shaded walks to do during summer in Girona

When it is hot we are put off walking, and once we have visited the Old Quarter we have little desire to continue wandering... what a big mistake!

Next we suggest five hidden paths in Girona, in the shade and apt for everyone, so that you continue discovering the secret jewels of the city.

Pedret Street

Once passed the houses of the River Onyar, on the left side, we enter the neighbourhood of Pedret, where a pleasant walk under the shade of the trees leads us to follow the river. This path, full of pure nature, will make us feel that it is unbelievable to be only five minutes away from the city centre.

The entrance of the River Onyar

Between Street Migdia and Street de la Creu, before the river goes through the city, we can enter the forest where the Onyar begins its journey through Girona. A green forest, full of tranquility, not busy and full of magic corners. Without a doubt, it is a totally recommended path to escape the heat! .

The gardens of La Devesa

Every Girona citizen remembers moments in this garden: hidden in La Devesa we find its gardens, which still keep some animals that can be seen from outside and that are protected from the summer heat under the shade. An entertaining way to spend the afternoon!

The John Lennon gardens

This place, ideal to visit at sunset when the sun goes down, is full of views worthy of being photographed: it has a pond, it is full of almond trees and it lets us see the city from a different point of view. The wall, the Cathedral, Sant Fèlix and Sant Pere de Galligants from another beautiful and little-known angle. A feast for the eyes that is off the beaten track!

The Galligants river

And if the John Lennon gardens have left you wanting more, we recommend you continue along the banks of the River Galligants, a path parallel to Carrer de Sant Daniel that takes us to the Valley with the same name. It is a path where nature abounds and, in addition, you will find wooden tables and benches where you can rest and have a snack to keep you going.
