During the months of October, November and December, Temporada Alta gives us the opportunity to enjoy the performing arts. The festival presents performances from the Catalan scene and other international ones, with a varied and plural offer: circus, dance, live music and cinema.
Firstly, in this year's edition, Temporada Alta is inviting great names on the international scene. One of them, the first to perform at the festival: the Royal Shakespeare Company. The great English theatre company brings us a classic by Shakespeare: "Measure for measure", in the Teatre Municipal de Girona. This is a new staging, released in July this year, which speaks about justice, power and forgiveness. In total, this edition features more than 27 international performances: "O agora que demora", by Christiane Jatahy; "Regreso a Reims", by Thomas Ostermeier or "Sopro", by Tiago Rodrigues, among other shows.
Additionally, the Catalan scene and the national talent also play a fundamental role at Temporada Alta 2019. In total, some 56 performances will be of Catalan creation. Lluís Pasqual returns to the Catalan stages, with "Romancero gitano" by Lorca. It will not be the only adaptation, since Joan Ollé adapts "La mort i la primavera" by the writer Mercè Rodoreda. Lastly, the festival will talk about one of the most interesting and socially relevant subjects: feminism. "GRRRLS !!!", by Carlota Subirós or "Jo, dona" by Marta Carrasco will give voice to this social movement and its cause through different scenic genres.
Temporada Alta 2019, as it has been for over 28 years, will be a meeting point for artists, stories, reflections and fans of the performing arts. The festival has opened its box office, on its website, where we can consult all the programming. A terrific selection of theatre, circus, music, dance and cinema for all tastes that is expected, once again, to reaffirm Temporada Alta as one of the best European performing arts festivals.
