One of them is enjoying music festivals. And there is an important offer of quality artists and music in the province of Girona during the summer. The city of Girona, but especially some coastal towns are the ones that house renown musicians from around the world, of many different styles and for all musical tastes. Which are Girona’s summer music festivals?
It’s the great music party to enjoy with your family. Festivalot is the right festival for parents and children to enjoy quality youthful music together. It is organized by the production company Pistatxo Produccions, of the music band Els Amics de les Arts. This year, during the weekend of June 15 and 16, the Devesa Park and the Auditorium of Girona will host concerts by Joan Dausà, El Pot Petit, Macedonia, Joan Colomo and Reggae per Xics, among others.
Surely, it is one of the most recognized festivals in the Girona province and in the Catalan territory. In addition to hosting, year after year, prominent international artists, it boasts its venue. Cap Roig Botanical Gardens are a unique spot, in a special location, by the sea, with a capacity for 2,118 spectators. This year’s edition brings together Aitana, Ainhoa Arteta, Maluma, Morat, Ramazzoti, Vanesa Martín, The Vamps, Jamie Cullum and Ben Harper, among many others, during the months of July and August.
It is the summer festival with the longest tradition in Spain. Porta Ferrada has performances by renowned artists and emerging talents, both national and international. It is held in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, next to the beach of this Empordà town. Surrounded by the sea breeze, during the months of July and August we can find such renowned artists as New Order, Manolo García, Manuel Carrasco, Marea, Amaia, Joan Baez, Luz Casal or Melendi. In addition, the festival’s offer is not limited to music: there are also theatre and dance shows.
It is defined as the Festival of Music and Art in the Mediterranean, and this is not surprising, since it is held in L’Escala, a town on the Costa Brava, and has a line-up with a Mediterranean feeling. The Greek Agora of the Empúries site or Mar d’en Manassa are some of the venues that, during July and August this year, will host artists such as Alfred García, Paco Ibáñez, Pau Riba, Anna Roig & Àlex Cassanyes Big Band Project or Clara Peya.
Also touched by the breeze of the Costa Brava, the Sons del Món festival brings together great national and international artists in various venues in Castelló d’Empúries, Empuriabrava and Roses. In the present season, the festival will feature performances by Ramon Mirabet, Texas, Oques Grasses, Morat, Rozalén, Luz Casal and Judit Neddermann, among others.
