La Garrotxa is a region that already has a unique beauty for its great multitude of volcanoes and landscapes but if you do not know where to start, we recommend the Fageda d'en Jordà. This almost mystical place is part of one of the 28 natural reserves of the natural park and is ideal to make a route on foot, by bicycle or horse.
Without leaving the same region, we can find the village of Besalú, famous for its spectacular Romanesque bridge that presides it and for being one of the best preserved medieval ensembles in Catalonia. But do not limit yourself only to this magnificent construction, the heritage extends throughout the town! The church-hospital of Sant Julià, the Casa Cornellà, the synagogue and the micvé or the church of Sant Vicenç, are worth seeing.
Just 30 minutes from Girona is the largest lake in Catalonia. For the territory, it is so important that it even gives its name to the region in which it is located. You just have to take a walk along its shoreline and pop out your head through the multiple viewpoints to have a different scenery of the Lake at each step. For sports lovers: it was the venue for the rowing competitions at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.
The Dalí Museum needs no introduction. Built in '74 and designed by Salvador Dalí himself, it is considered the last great work of the artist. The entire museum was conceived to offer the visitor an authentic experience through the particular Dalí universe. The collection allows us to see the trajectory of the artist from his first contact with art when he focused on impressionism and cubism, surrealism, nuclear mysticism and passion for science, to the last works he painted. Two curiosities: Dalí was baptised in the church opposite and, as we know, he is buried in the same theatre.
To finish we propose another natural space essential for bird lovers. 5,000 hectares protected as a Natural Park, the Aiguamolls host more than 300 species, of which 82 live permanently between these lagoons and dunes. The stork is the most emblematic animal of the park, but there are many more equally beautiful that you can not see anywhere else in the country.
